The new standalone streaming service HBO NOW is now available to Verizon broadband customers and coming to wireless subscribers, too. And HBO content will also be on board with Verizon’s upcoming mobile video service, expected to launch by the end of the summer.hbo-sign

The companies announced the agreement Tuesday to make HBO Now available for Verizon customers. Current broadband customers — either on FiOS or high-speed internet — can use the service now with a 30-day free trial. After that, HBO Now costs $14.99 monthly.  Verizon can also be able to sell HBO Now directly to wireless customers, although there’s no reference to how that process will work on either the HBO Now site or Verizon Wireless site.

Launched in April, HBO Now is also available on Apple TV and other Apple devices, Android smartphones and tablets, Amazon Fire tablets and on Optimum Online for customers in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. Later this summer, the service is scheduled to hit Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV stick and Google Chromecast.

“Our customers want choice in accessing premium content when and where they choose, on a variety of devices,” said Ben Grad, Verizon’s executive director of content strategy and acquisition in a statement. “HBO Now brings compelling content and choice to Verizon broadband customers today – and exciting possibilities for HBO content within Verizon’s pending mobile video service.” Verizon’s upcoming mobile service will feature HBO short form video content such as clips and trailers.
